AATA is pleased to offer express service between Chelsea and Ann Arbor.

The buses are highway coaches with high-backed reclining seats, cupholders, reading lights and overhead storage.
Food/drink can be brought onto these coaches. |

Service operates Monday – Friday ONLY, and will not operate on holidays.

In Chelsea, the only bus stop will be at the Arctic Coliseum (501 Coliseum Dr.) Free parking will be available. The pick up location will be the front lobby, which will be open. Bearclaw Coffee and other goodies will be available for purchase inside.
Four stops will be served in/near downtown Ann Arbor; including City Hall, UM Central Campus, and the UM Medical Center.

How much is it?
The service is $125 for a monthly pass.
AATA passes, discount fares, MCards, and go!passes will NOT be valid for this service.
We will only sell as many monthly passes as we have seats available, so if you buy a monthly pass you will be guaranteed a seat.
The monthly pass will reserve a seat for a passholder for one trip in the morning and one trip in the afternoon. Monthly pass holders can choose to use the other trips if space allows, but a seat will not be reserved for them on those trips.
Monthly passes will begin on the 1st and the 15th of each month. Passes purchased for the 15th will be prorated to $62.50. This arrangement will be evaluated as we bring new technology online.
Empty seats in the peak direction (i.e. to Ann Arbor in the morning and to Chelsea in the afternoon) will be sold on a daily basis for $5 one way. Cash fare must be paid directly to the driver for these seats.

Try it out on us! Free trial passes
Free trial periods will end on the 1st and 15th of each month. The rider can choose the start date. Riders can choose trial periods up to as long as 16 days.
If you want to sign up for the free trial, please email express.bus@theride.org with “free trial” as the subject.

How do I pay?
Orders for monthly passes can be submitted by mail. (Credit card payment options will be available soon!)

You’ll never be stranded - Guaranteed Ride Home
In the event of an emergency, AATA will reimburse a cab ride back to Chelsea for people with a monthly pass. When you sign up for a monthly pass, instructions on how to use GRH will be sent to you.
GRH basics:
- A rider must make their own arrangements for a taxicab or rental car.
- Reimbursements will be made for trips from the rider’s work site to the Arctic Coliseum.
- Intermediate stops (e.g., day care or hospital) are permitted.
- The service may be used up to six times per year but no more than twice in one month.
- A reimbursement form (available from the AATA website) must be completed and mailed in with an original copy of the taxicab/rental car receipt.
GRH can be used for:
- Personal or family illness.
- Unscheduled overtime or other mandatory work-related holdover.
GRH can NOT be used for:
- Half-days of work for non-emergency reasons.
- Monthly pass holders who choose to use a non-reserved trip and are passed up because that trip is full.
- Missed trip due to non-emergency reasons.
