Welcome to A2Express! We offer a variety of fare payment options. Any way you slice it, using A2Express is the economic, eco-friendly way to commute to Ann Arbor.

Please note that A2Express fare media is not valid on regular AATA services at this time. Also, other AATA fare media, such as transfers, tokens, flex passes, Mcards, and go!passes are not valid on A2Express services.

A2Express Commuter Pass
$125.00 full-fare $62.50 for commuters employed by a participating employer sponsor
A Commuter Pass lets you take unlimited rides on either A2Express route for the time period specified. It's the easiest, most cost-effective way to ride if you plan to use A2Express regularly. You can purchase the Commuter Pass at any time -- it expires 30 days after the first time you use it.

A2Express Ten-Ride Ticket
$40.00 for ten rides
The Ten-Ride Ticket is perfect if you plan to use A2Express occasionally. When you purchase the ticket, you can use it any time within a year. The driver will punch the ticket each time you take a ride. Using the Ten-Ride Ticket results in a 20 percent savings over paying the cash fare. You can purchase the Ten-Ride Ticket at the AATA Main Office, 2700 S Industrial Hwy in Ann Arbor.

One-Way Cash Fare
$5.00 per ride
If you don't have a pass or a ticket, you can ride by paying exact cash. This is the most expensive option -- we encourage regular customers to purchase an A2Express Commuter Pass. Please note that discount cash fares do not apply to this service.

Employer-Sponsored Commuter Passes

Many major Ann Arbor employers sponsor half of their employees' A2Express fare. Current participants include: University of Michigan Almost 500 downtown businesses enrolled in the go!pass Program Ask your employer if you qualify. If you do, purchase your A2Express Commuter Pass through your employer's designated outlet.

Where to Buy Commuter Passes

University of Michigan commuters who qualify for the employer-sponsored rate through U-M can purchase passes at the following locations. Be prepared to show proof of your employment status in order to buy the pass: University of Michigan Parking Sales Office - 777 North University, Second Floor, Ann Arbor University of Michigan Hospital Cashiers Office - Second Floor near Gift Shop, Ann Arbor Downtown commuters who qualify for the employer-sponsored rate through go!Pass can purchase passes from getDowntown. Complete the form, then fax or mail it to obtain your pass. Exclusive Commuter Pass Programs

Guaranteed Ride Home In the event of an emergency, AATA will reimburse you for a cab ride back to Chelsea or Canton if you're an A2Express Commuter Pass holder. Some basics of the Guaranteed Ride Home program: A rider must use A2Express service on a regular basis; A rider must make their own arrangements for a taxicab or rental car; Reimbursements will be made for trips from the rider’s worksite to Arctic Coliseum, Independence Park, or other destinations within a two-mile radius of these locations; Intermediate stops (e.g., day care or hospital) are permitted; The service may be used up to six times per year but no more than twice in one month; A reimbursement form (available from the AATA website) must be completed and mailed in with an original copy of the taxicab/rental car receipt; Guaranteed Ride Home can be used for personal or family illness, unscheduled overtime or other mandatory work-related holdover; Guaranteed Ride Home cannot be used for half-days of work for non-emergency reasons or missed trip due to non-emergency reasons. Lost Pass Replacement If you lose your pass, we can provide a replacement. REGISTER YOUR PASS! Guaranteed Ride Home and Lost Pass Replacement are available exclusively to customers with registered A2Express Commuter Passes. To register your pass, send an email to express.bus@theride.org with the following information: Pass Number (five-digit number on upper edge of front side) Name Home Address Work Address Phone Number Please note, you'll need to register each new pass you purchase.
