Late-night shared-ride public transportation in Ann Arbor

Night Ride is a late-night, shared-ride taxi service organized and funded by the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority. The AATA contracts with Blue Cab to operate the service. The AATA initiated Night Ride in response to the community's need for safe, low-cost transportation late at night. Anyone may use Night Ride, but all Night Ride trips are limited to within the city of Ann Arbor only.

Night Ride complements AATA's Fixed Route service by providing round-the-clock, public transportation within Ann Arbor. Trips are even available on major holidays.

HOW TO USE NIGHT RIDE

All Night Ride trips must be scheduled by phone reservation. To book a trip, simply call the special Night Ride service phone number: 734.528.5432. Drivers are not permitted to pick up passengers who attempt to flag down a vehicle. Give the dispatcher the following information: your pickup location, destination and number of passengers (including any non-paying children). Inform the dispatcher if you are using a car seat or wheelchair.

Night Ride operates much like regular cab service with these important differences:

• The fare is $5.00 per person regardless of the length of the trip.
  
• The fare for individuals with an AATA issued ADA or senior identification card is $2.50.
  
• The fare for individuals with a go!pass is $1.00.
  
• Night Ride cabs normally take 15-40 minutes to arrive to pick up passengers. The average wait is 20 minutes.
  
• Night Ride is a shared-ride service. The cab may pick up and/or drop off other passengers while you are in the cab.
  
• It is recommended that you allow at least an hour to complete your trip. The average trip takes about 45 minutes.
  
• You may carry and take with you only what you can hold on your lap, except wheelchairs and walkers.
  
• Service for wheelchair users is provided with a lift-equipped van.

Monday - Friday

7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.
Saturday & Sunday

Pickups do not start until 11:00 p.m. on weekdays and 7:00 p.m. on weekends. No orders are taken after 5:15 a.m. weekdays and 6:45 a.m. weekends.

SERVICE AREA FOR NIGHT RIDE

All trips on Night Ride must have both their origin and destination within the city of Ann Arbor.

FARES FOR NIGHT RIDE

Passengers pay a fixed fare of $5.00 per person, regardless of the distance traveled within the city limits or the time needed to complete the trip. One child (5 years old or younger) per paying fare may ride for free. Seniors and people with disabilities with an AATA identification card (Senior or ADA) ride for $2.50. You cannot use A-Ride Scrip on Night Ride. Individuals with a go!pass ride for $1.00. Passengers may be required to have exact change.

You may stay indoors until the Night Ride arrives. However, watch for the vehicle's arrival. The driver cannot wait more than two minutes for you. When a cab or van arrives, ask if it is your Night Ride. If you decide not to take Night Ride after you have made a reservation, please call 734.528.5432 and cancel the reservation.

HOLIDAY RIDE

Holiday Ride provides a shared-ride taxi service on all major holidays when AATA regular fixed-route service does not operate. Holiday Ride operates the same way as Night Ride. The fare for Holiday Ride is $5.00 per person, or $2.50 per person for individuals with an AATA issued ADA or senior card. Anyone may call for a ride within the city limits of Ann Arbor on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
