Winter Safety

Because AATA has the utmost concern for your safety, we ask that you wait at the nearest cleared area, such as a driveway, during the winter months if the bus stop is unsafe due to snow or ice. To signal the driver to stop, raise your arm without waving.

Winter weather conditions can present a challenge for every motorist, including our drivers and every passenger. Heavy snow piling up and icy road conditions slow traffic to a crawl, making it difficult to provide timely service.

During these difficult weather situations, contact AATA using RideTrak from your web-enabled phone or PDA at mobile.TheRide.org, or call 734.996.0400 to find out whether your bus is running on schedule.

At our bus stops, the AATA maintenance crew clears snow where there are shelters and other locations where 50 or more passengers board daily. However, we must rely on property owners to clear snow at the remainder of our bus stops.

AATA appreciates the patience that our passengers demonstrate during these winter weather situations and will continue to do our best to serve our passengers well, with safety as our first priority.

Snow Detours

If winter weather conditions become severe, bus routes may be placed on detour. Routes that are typically detoured during bad weather are:

Route 13 Newport
No Service North of M-14

Route 14 Geddes-E. Stadium
No Service on Geddes, Arlington, Devonshire or Overridge
