TheRide is always looking ahead to the future of public transportation. We are embracing new technology and collecting community insight to help us decide where we're headed next.
Long-Range Plan
2024 Service and Millage Improvements
TheRide's Board of Directors has laid out ambitious goals for TheRide and transit services; advance the community’s needs for social, environmental and economic sustainability through strategic provision of transit, while remaining careful stewards of the public trust.
The voters of Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township approved TheRide’s millage request to expand and improve transit service. Though approved now, the new 5-year 2.38 mil property tax and services will not go into effect until 2024. These improvements will include several key enhancements to our public transit services.
TheRide is committed to improving the rider experience through new projects and initiatives. Take a look at what we're doing to move TheRide forward.
Alternative Propulsion Bus Study
TheRide worked with its consultant, Stantec, to develop an Alternative Propulsion Bus Study. This study explores zero emission bus propulsion technologies and assesses the benefits and challenges of transitioning from a fossil fuel bus fleet to a zero emissions bus fleet.
Ongoing Projects
TheRide is involved with a number of projects, both internally and with other organizations, that will benefit public transit in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area.
